When Vacuuming Never Seems to Be Enough

vacuum-It’s frustrating. We’ve all been there. You try to keep up with the cleanliness in your house, and whether you have children or not, dust and dirt always seem to build up. Maybe you live alone and can’t believe just how dusty the shelves, entertainment cabinet, and floors get within a week or two.

Keep in mind, most of the dust is not actually dirt.

It’s dead skin cells. In fact, more than 70 percent of the dust inside your house is dead skin cells. Your skin cells slough off every 7 to 10 days. They are so light they will float up into the air and ultimately settle down on just about any surface in your home, including your couch, tables, and more.

They also settle into your carpet fibers.

You vacuum. Perhaps you vacuum every couple of days. It certainly helps you feel better, but believe it or not even the most powerful residential vacuum cleaner is not strong enough to get all of the dust and dirt out of the carpet fibers. Some of that dust and dirt gets trapped and over time works its way deeper down.

That’s why a professional carpet cleaning service is important.

Never underestimate the value of a professional carpet cleaning service. When the company comes into your house and uses truck mounted equipment, they will apply cleaning solutions and use a high-powered system to wash and draw out the water, along with most of that dust and dirt, into those machines.

When you vacuum and clean regularly, you want your home to look, smell, and feel great. However, over time, your carpets and area rugs will begin to show their age if you don’t keep up with deep carpet cleaning regularly.

How often should this be done?

Ideally, to protect indoor air quality, maximize longevity of your carpets, and help them look their best, it is recommended that you have a professional carpet cleaning every six months. Once a year is okay, but when it’s important, rely on those recommendations.
