Is Water Enough to Thoroughly Clean Carpets?

Spilling a Bottle of Water isn’t always ‘Harmless’ to CarpetingIt’s a common question that many homeowners have when they are considering hiring a carpet cleaning service. Most homeowners don’t contact a professional carpet cleaning company until they had their carpets for at least a few years and they begin showing signs of age.

Those carpets begin looking haggard and old.

They might have stains. They might look dirty. Even though the homeowner is vacuuming every week or even every couple of days, it doesn’t seem to be enough. The carpeting continues to collect dirt and dust and other particulates and even the most powerful residential vacuum cleaner is not strong enough to get them all out. The deeper they work into the carpet pile, getting caught in the fibers, the harder and more stubborn they become to remove.

So, these homeowners contacted a professional carpet cleaning service and if they have never had an experience with these providers before, they may be skeptical. After all, they assume that all this company is doing is using truck mounted equipment, spraying water along the carpet, and then sucking up whatever dust and dirt is absorbed into the water.

Is water enough?

In most cases, no. There will be stains and other issues that need to be cleaned with solutions. Most highly experienced professional carpet cleaning companies will provide options. They may have incredibly effective cleaning solutions that might not be considered environmentally safe. They will also have a wide range of environmentally sound and safe cleaning solutions that can also be incredibly effective.

What does this cleaning solutions do?

Mostly they attack the foreign contaminants, whether it’s pet urine, spaghetti sauce, grape juice, dirt, or anything else and begin to break it down, weakening it, and helping it to pull off of the carpet fibers. Then, the water, from an incredible suction off of truck mounted equipment, is pulled back out.

For those who are only interested in water and suction and want nothing to do with cleaning solutions, they will see an improvement, but it won’t be nearly as effective as if they had used some type of cleaning solution.
