The Endless Dust Bunnies: Why You’re Still Cleaning Right, and What to Do about Them

The Second 3 Steps to Get Your Home Ready for a Summer PartyYou’ve probably noticed that no matter how often you clean your house, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping up the floors, mopping, and much more, you still get those little dust bunnies that seem to congregate under the couch, under the entertainment center, and in the corners of the rooms where you don’t devote a great deal of time and attention.

This it does not indicate you’re cleaning improperly or not doing enough. Every time somebody walks into the house from outside, they are probably tracking in debris they can’t even see. It could be on their shoes, attached to their clothing, or flying in the air behind them.

Also, 80 percent of the dust that exists within your home is the product of dead skin cells. People shed their dead skin cells every seven days, on average. Over time that will build up so even if you stopped dusting, vacuuming, and doing all of those other good things to help keep your home clean, you’re still going to notice dust buildup and, eventually, dust bunnies.

The best way to eliminate dust bunnies is to move furniture and vacuum underneath and behind it on a regular basis. This may not be practical, but if you don’t do it all of that extra dust is also going to settle onto your carpeting. A vacuum is not strong enough to get up everything out of the carpet fibers. Eventually some of that dust and dirt works its way deeper into the carpet pile.

At that point in time, it’s necessary to call in the experience of a professional carpet cleaning service. With truck mounted equipment, experienced professionals, and the right approach, you can maintain your carpeting looking like new for many years. It can actually increase the life expectancy of the carpeting and area rugs in your home.
