You might have spent several thousand dollars on brand new carpeting for your Toronto area home. It’s a great feeling once they are installed. Not only does that new carpet smell invigorate you and help you feel like you have a brand new house, it looks new, it looks great, and it is comfortable.
You want to do everything you can to ensure the longevity of this carpeting, but one thing you could be easily overlooking are old, dirty curtains and other drapery.
There are numerous ways that dirty and all curtains can be affecting your carpeting.
1. Not inspiring care.
If you step in the room after few weeks having the carpeting in place, you can see the old, dingy, run down curtains and not feel as inspired to take care of that room and keep it clean as you would with something newer and more refreshing.
2. The dirt can filter out of the curtains and onto the carpeting.
You might not see this happening, but when the sun shine in the room you can certainly see dust particles flying through the air. Every time you disturb upholstery or curtains, it is taking whatever dirt and dust that is trapped along the fabric and kicking into the air. It’s going to filter down into the carpeting next.
3. You may not be using the curtains to their full effect.
The sun’s ultraviolet radiation is going to fade certain colors, including in your carpeting, especially if it is continually shining into your home on a regular basis. If your curtains are old and dirty, you may not be using them to full effect. In order to use them properly, you should be closing them over to block out the sun at certain times of the day.
If that seems impractical, you may be in line to consider shutters or blinds instead.
