Some Clever Ways to Protect Your Brand New Carpets

Welcome matKeeping your carpets looking their best can be a challenge, especially when you have a number of children running around. Even if it’s just you and a spouse, a partner, or even a couple of friends who live in your home, no matter what you do or how many times you say it, there will always be those who forget to take off their shoes, prefer to have a snack in the family room, den, or living while watching TV, and that has the potential to lead to accidental spills and other problems.

There are steps you can take to help protect your brand new carpets, though, after they’ve been installed. Here are a few tricks, or tips, to keep in mind.

Put up signs.

You can go to any office supply store and find certain signs that can used, effectively, as reminders about what shouldn’t be carried into the room. You’re not likely going to find too many signs that say no food allowed, but they do exist.

Be creative and strategically place signs where people would enter into the room you’re trying to protect.

Offer incentives.

If you have children who have a difficult time listening and remembering certain things, offer them an incentive for remembering to remove their shoes when they step into the house for the first time. When they constantly get these incentives, or rewards, it will help to begin developing a habit that can last a lifetime.

Strategically placed furniture.

You may not completely like the idea of placing furniture around each room in a strategic manner to force people to think when they enter, but it could be helpful to establish a pattern in the weeks and months ahead.

The most important thing when it comes to brand new carpeting is to try and find ways to keep it protected as much as possible. Still, no matter what you do, no matter how careful people are, you’ll notice the condition of those carpets begin to decline over time.

That’s why it’s a good idea to rely on professional carpet cleaning services at least once a year.
