Why Changing the Layout of Your Room Protects Your Carpets

Bed Bugs Don’t Just Breed in Mattresses: They Can Also be Hiding in Your Carpeting and FurnitureYou’ve noticed that your carpets are beginning to look worn out in certain areas. You may have heard that calling a professional carpet cleaning service to come into your home and clean them thoroughly is the best way to protect them and help them to stay looking like new for many years to come.

That’s certainly true, but there are also some things you can do to help protect your carpets in other ways as well. One of those is to change the layout of each room in your home that has wall-to-wall carpeting.

If you have furniture in the same place, where that furniture touches the ground is where the carpeting will be compressed the most. Given enough time, this can create depressions that are very difficult to get out. It’s not impossible, though.

Another issue with regard to having furniture in the same place without moving anything around is that the carpeting under that piece of furniture will look much different than the rest of the carpeting.

You may have limited space and simply a lot of furniture to move around, so it may not be practical to change the layout in every room. Where it is possible and practical, it’s recommended that you do this at least once per year.

The average life expectancy of basic wall-to-wall carpeting is anywhere between 10 and 12 years. The more people you have at home, the more use your carpeting gets, the shorter that life expectancy will be, without proper care.

No matter how much use or abuse your carpeting sees, whether you’re able to practically rearrange the layout of your furniture or not, it’s a great idea to call on a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to help keep them looking their best all year round.
