Bug Bombing Myths and Why Regular Cleaning Can Do a Better Job

Bug Bombing Myths and Why Regular Cleaning Can Do a Better JobIf your Toronto area home is beginning to get overrun by bugs, you may be tempted to have a tent thrown over it and ‘bomb’ it with chemical solutions. These bug bombing strategies may be effective for some insects, especially termites or carpenter ants that can burrow into the wood and cause a tremendous amount of damage, but if you have spiders, stinkbugs, or other types of insects that seem to be infesting your home, bombing the house may not be an effective option.

There are numerous bug bomb sprays that homeowners can set off on their own when they had out for a day or for a few days, but they often don’t have the desired effect.

A bug bomb is usually a can that is set up in a room or in some portion of the house, a button is depressed, and while the homeowner and the family are out, the chemical solution is sprayed into the air and moves throughout the house.

Why these bug bombs are not all that effective.

One of the main reasons has to do with the chemicals used in them. Not every chemical is going to be effective at killing all insects and bugs in the house. Not only that, the chemical solutions don’t often get to where the bugs hide in live. That is usually in furniture, in the walls, and even down in the basement.

Another problem with bug bombs is they will leave a residue behind and that requires a thorough cleaning of every single portion of the house, including furniture, carpeting, flooring, baseboards, ceiling fans, and everything else.

It’s much more effective to do a thorough cleaning of the entire house as that can remove food particles and other debris that attract bugs in the first place. The next time you may be considering a bug bomb to take care of the insects in your house, consider trying a thorough cleaning instead. It will likely have much better results.
