Don’t Freak Out over the Spilled Grape Juice on that New Carpet: These Tips Will Help

don't freak out over spilt grape juiceBrand-new carpeting was installed in your home just last week. You barely had time to fully enjoy and appreciate this new carpeting. It was a significant investment, costing you thousands of dollars, and after the installers left and you waited the recommended time before placing any furniture on it, when you finally got an opportunity to sit down and enjoy it, it felt wonderful.

Even though you told your entire family, including small children, that they were not to have any type of food or drinks in the room with this new carpeting, somebody didn’t listen and grape juice was spilled on it. Now that brand-new, eggshell white carpeting has a large grape stain on it.

Panic will usually set in pretty quickly. It is that type of reaction that can actually make things worse, rather than better.

The initial instinct is to rush over and get up the grape juice as quickly as possible. Even though you invested in stain resistant chemicals and applied to your carpeting, you know full well that grape juice can set in and leave a stain before too long. However, what you might not realize is rubbing and trying to get the grape juice out by brushing it is only going to work it deeper into the carpet pile.

These tips can help in that situation.

1. Remain calm. Even the worst staining material can be removed. If you jump to conclusions or panic, you could make things worse in the long run.

2. Blot the stain. Once you’re calm, avoid trying to rub the stain out. That only works it deeper into the carpet pile. Instead, using damp paper towels or other towels, blot the grape juice. This means placing the towel over the stain lightly, pressing down, and allowing the material to absorb the grape juice as much as possible.

3. Use an effective cleaning solution. Depending on the type of cleaning solution you have, you should test it in an out-of-the-way place on the carpet to make sure it will not stain the carpeting or bleach it in any way. If you are unsure about its effectiveness, try it in an inconspicuous area, such as under the couch, behind an entertainment center, and other areas first.

4. Call a professional cleaning service. Royal Interior Cleaning has the equipment and knowledge to get up almost any type of stain, including grape juice from white carpeting. Don’t hesitate to call a professional cleaner in this type of situation.
